FINALLY!! Dry Enough To Plow!

Posted 3/28/2011 12:00pm by Julie Barrett.

Sure wish I could have taken a picture of those gorgeous draft horses, but the Amish do not allow pictures.  It is so rude of tourists, who take their picture along side of a field.

The leaves will add humus to the soil.

Where is SPRING??????????  Cold and wet, wet and cold.  Temperatures all week have been in low 40's with nights hovering in the 20's. Not thrilled. Stuff under the low tunnel looks good: cabbage, broccoli, kale, chard, parsely, choy, scallions, lettuces, basically all the cold tolerant crops. Tomatoes and eggplants are still inside.

Grace was crazy barking and I looked out the window and WHOA! There were four enormous draft horses in the driveway. Our Amish neighbor had come to plow our soil.  Finally, a reprieve from rain provided an opportunity to plow. The ground is still plenty moist, now for sunshine and warmth, let's go! Only 54 days till first CSA delivery.
